Barbara M. Korsch received her B.A. from Smith College in 1941 and her M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1944. After her residencies in internal medicine and pediatrics, she completed her fellowship at the Institute of Child Development at Cornell University in 1949. Dr. Korsch has been a professor of pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California since 1969. She is currently co-director, CHLA Development and Behavioral Pediatric Rotation. She is the recipient of several major honors and awards. Dr. Korsch is the author of numerous publications, including journal articles, books, and chapters. Most recently, she produced the teaching video, Patient Centered Communication in Pediatric Practice-Reducing the Power Gap. She is the author of The Intelligent Patient's Guide to the Doctor-Patient Relationship: Learning how to Talk so your Doctor will Listen (Oxford University Press, 1998), a four-star rated book currently available at Amazon.com. Robert DeFulgentiis lives happily with his wife Sarah and two children, Matthew and Lily, in South Pasadena, California. He is a graduate of Harvard University, the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and the American Film Institute. Having written screenplays and content for the Web, his work on this book represents his first foray into the memoir genre.
